Dr. Choudhury Bhuyan, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Physics and a member of Professor Sanjay Behura’s research group, has been named the 2026 recipient of the Outstanding International Scholar Award. The honor recognizes his research, mentorship and contributions to San Diego State University’s global mission, particularly in quantum materials and photonics.
Bhuyan’s work has helped advance research in the field while supporting student success and strengthening collaborative efforts, including initiatives such as the MonArk Quantum Foundry.
He will receive the award at the Faculty Global Engagement Symposium & Awards Ceremony on April 20, 2026, at Scripps Cottage, where he is scheduled to give a brief presentation on his work.
