Research/Teaching Interests:

Doc Morris received his PhD in Nuclear Physics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1957, and joined the SDSU physics department that same year.  He then taught at SDSU until the spring of 2018, over sixty years,  the longest serving active faculty member at SDSU, and one of the longest serving in the entire Cal State system.

Professor Morris’ teaching interests included teaching an undergraduate laboratory in physical measurements at the junior level, and graduate courses in electromagnetic theory and tensor analysis for physicists. His primary research projects, which have included both undergraduate and graduate students, were in electromagnetism and optics. He has supervised over thirty graduate theses in the above mentioned subjects.

In celebration of his 50 years of teaching at SDSU, in 2007, the Dept. of Physics named the Doc Morris Public Lecture Series after Professor Morris. More information can be found here.
